Ui, Orr, and Ouchie
As the curtain rises on Bertolt Brecht’s satire Arturo Ui, the city of Chicago has been terrorized by vicious attacks on its cauliflower shipments. But, to everyone’s relief, the eponymous Ui offers to protect cauliflower transit for a small fee. Shippers are, of course, free to engage Ui’s services or not, but when they choose “not”, there is the sound of machine gun fire offstage. Arturo Ui saves the city from this plague of cauliflower terrorism, and is elected mayor by a grateful citizenry. Brecht’s play was composed in 1941, at a time when the idea of a protection racket was not in the public’s imagination.
In real life, the LA fire chief John Leonard Orr became a revered public figure for the role he played in putting out some devastating fires in the city through the 1980s. As arson investigator, he also solved some key cases using his advanced forensic skills. That was before he was was arrested in 1991 and charged with setting 2,000 California fires. Orr’s inner Imp of the Perverse had had the audacity to publish a novel about himself. Mr. Orr is presently serving a life sentence in Centinela State Prison.
In 1984, the young, talented and ambitious Doctor Anthony Fauci was first appointed director of NIAID, the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Disease. This was a time when allergies were a rare, if inconvenient, complaint; and infectious disease was on its way out, due to successful campaigns of antibiotics and vaccines. But under Dr Fauci’s expert management of public health, allergies and autoimmunity in particular rose dramatically over the ensuing decades. Autoimmune diseases among young people rose exponentially through the 1990s and 2000s. Allergies among children and adults are now a major national health issue, and anaphylaxis has come out of nowhere as a childhood issue. Dr Fauci’s prominence and influence within the NIH grew as the diseases he managed loomed larger and larger.
There are many reasons why childhood allergies have risen seven-fold in the last 15 years, including global warming, “too clean” antiseptic environments, and epigenetic factors. One thing we can say with confidence, however, is that the exponential rise in allergies has nothing to do with the concurrent exponential rise in the number of vaccines on the childhood vaccine schedule. Please don’t even suggest that this is a “hypothesis” worthy of investigation, because you would be a dangerous purveyor of disinformation.
“Follow the science”. That means you don’t investigate things that Scientific Authorities have told you not to investigate. And Dr Fauci is the voice of science. He has even told us so himself.
Of course, Dr Fauci did not become a living room fixture until he managed the national response to the Coronavirus pandemic, which his own Imp of the Perverse predicted in 2017. Where did the Coronavirus pandemic come from? This is a difficult question. A complicated question. There are many possibilities. But one thing we can say for certain is that it had nothing to do with the NIAID-funded research at Wuhan Institute, University of NC, and Ft Detrick, MD in which bat Coronaviruses were genetically engineered to infect humans. Repeat after me. There is one thing we can say for certain…
